OUR CURRICULUMS!

Bringing education to life

An excellent learning experience is our central motivation across our schools. We achieve this through providing a rich and engaging curriculum, delivered with passion and creativity.

Pupils in a workshop

Our curriculum includes comprehensive coverage of all the core subject areas in the national curriculum, such as literacy, maths and physical education. But it has so much else to offer our young people beyond this.

We provide an inspiring menu of educational opportunities that link to diverse subjects, topics and ideas. This includes our unique Ocean Conservation Curriculum, a pioneering programme designed to educate our pupils about the marine world and our need to protect it.

The delivery of our curriculum is enriched by abundant activities and resources available across our schools. Outdoor exploration and learning, clubs, sporting opportunities and fascinating day trips contribute to a rounded and inviting school experience. This helps to nurture our children’s growth and development, while supporting their progress at the same time.

Ocean Conservation Curriculum

The first of its kind in the UK’s, designed for Connect schools with leading conservation partners. This curriculum builds knowledge of the sea and about the changes needed to preserve this essential environment.

Core Subjects Curriculum

We’re driven to ensure that the children in our schools attain, and where possible, exceed the required standards in literacy and maths. These key subjects are the bedrock of our pupils’ education at Key Stages 1 and 2.

"We are delighted to have been approached by the Connect Academy Trust to work with them. Getting a cross-curricular Ocean themed learning programme into Plymouth schools will be a huge step in the right direction – not just for Ocean conservation, but for the blue economy too."

Stu Higgs

"We are delighted that we will be taking ecology, conservation and research skills straight into classrooms and using it to teach literacy and maths as well as science. This is a UK first for us and we’re hopeful that other schools will want to join the project once they hear about it."

Nicola Bridge

Head of Conservation Education and Communications, oCT
