Stay connected with a round-up of recent events and news from schools in the Connect family.

Cockington Primary School

As part of the music curriculum, Year 2 have started using the glockenspiels to learn about pitch. The children have been showing their creative sides by playing along with the song Rainbows.

The Year 5/6 football teams enjoyed a fabulous afternoon watching the Torquay United and Eastbourne Borough FC match. The children could be heard cheering from across the stadium and gave great support to the team. They even had the opportunity to meet some of the players after the game! A big thank you to Torquay United Community Sports Trust for the free tickets.

Eggbuckland Vale Primary School

The school recently hosted the Connect Games Netball Tournament. The Year 6 sports leaders did a fantastic job of managing scores, times, awards and refreshments, alongside the umpires, Mrs Spicer-Fenn and Miss Stewart. A huge well done to the Year 5/6 netball team who came away as the overall winners of the tournament! Each school’s participants showed amazing effort, resilience, and sportsmanship.

Some of the children from The Military Kids Club (MKC Heroes) had a wonderful time watching the seasonal pantomime Goldilocks and the Three Bears at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth. They all thoroughly enjoyed the show with smiles all round. You can find out more about the MKC Heroes club at the school by clicking here.

Leigham Primary School

Year 4 have thoroughly enjoyed their swimming lessons at Plymouth Life Centre as part of the PE curriculum. They are making excellent progress, learning a range of strokes and self-rescue techniques.

Pupils taking part in the upcoming Young Voices concert in Birmingham have been getting creative to make their banner. The banner needs to be eye-catching for the parents in the audience to spot their school’s choir, and we think they are doing a great job so far. We can’t wait to share an update of the event in a few weeks’ time, so watch this space!

Widey Court Primary School

Well done to the pupils who recently received a certificate or trophy in the termly Celebration Assembly. The children were presented with the awards in recognition of achievements in various subjects and for demonstrating school values.

The school’s PTA have been busy organising their pre-loved uniform shop. They have a large selection of items including cardigans, jumpers, ties and house colour polo shirts available for a small donation. We hope that the shop will be a valuable asset to families during these challenging financial times.
